While it might not be evident at first, experience points are incredibly useful in the late game. Without a high-enough level, you can’t use anvils to repair your gear, nor can you enchant it with the best Minecraft enchantments. And while most experienced players know how to make the best XP farms, Bottles o’ Enchanting are still the easiest way to gather up some XP. Here’s how to get a Bottle o’ Enchanting in Minecraft.
Where Can You Find a Bottle o’ Enchanting in Minecraft
Finding 2 Bottles o’ Enchanting
Bottles o’ Enchanting are indeed a rare commodity in Minecraft. While I’ve created several new worlds in the game, I’ve never managed to save up a stack of these, despite trying my best to do so.
That being said, Bottles o’ Enchanting can spawn in the following locations: Ancient Cities, Pillager Outposts, and Shipwrecks.
Ancient Cities
Funnily enough, I’ve managed to obtain more Bottles o’ Enchanting from looting an Ancient City than any other way. While they’re not guaranteed (as a matter of fact, there’s a 1 in 4 chance that you actually find them inside Ancient City chests), I’ve had great luck finding these inside nearly every chest I’ve come across.
Pillager Outposts
I don’t see enough folks looting Pillager Outposts nowadays. Sure, the loot isn’t the best, but there’s a very high chance you’ll find some of these bottles inside the chest on the top of the structure.
Shipwrecks
Though it’s a rare occurrence, Shipwrecks can have a Bottle o’ Enchanting inside the Treasure Chest, which also holds a Buried Treasure map. While I’ve come across an odd bottle here and there, these are pretty rare, so you’ll need to loot many Shipwrecks to get enough of them to level up.
How to Obtain a Bottle o’ Enchanting in Minecraft
Now that you know where to find a Bottle o’ Enchanting, it’s time to obtain them. Since these can’t be crafted, you’ll have to loot away.
There is, however, another way that you can obtain a Bottle o’ Enchanting in Minecraft: clerics. If you trade with a Cleric for a long time, they’ll become a Master. These will trade you a bottle of 3 emeralds. That’s not a fantastic deal, but it’s the easiest way to get a hold of a Bottle o’ Enchanting, albeit being the least time-efficient.
How to Use a Bottle o’ Enchanting in Minecraft
Using a Bottle o’ Enchanting
If you’ve got yourself a few Bottles o’ Enchanting, all you have to do is use them. These work just like splash potions in that you drop them instead of consuming them. Once you “Use” these, they’ll drop around 7 XP orbs.

When you consider that you’ll need stacks of them to level up once you reach the higher levels, it’s safe to say that an XP farm is a must.
