Unlike wood logs, a block of bamboo will give you 2 bamboo planks. Bamboo planks, to be specific. These look similar to Birch planks but have a more detailed texture. You can use Bamboo planks to make all the items a wood plank can make, like stairs, slabs, and a bamboo raft.
Stripped Bamboo

You can get stripped bamboo by right-clicking on a block of bamboo with an axe equipped, just like you would do for a block of stripped wood. Unlike the latter, stripped bamboo can be used to craft a bamboo hanging sign.
